World Rowing Indoor Championships go virtual for 2025

World Rowing have announced that the 2025 World Rowing Indoor Championships will take place virtually. 

The championships, in partnership with Concept 2 will be held over two weekends in February 2025 with racing being broadcast around the world for fans to enjoy.

Qualification for the 2025 WRICH will commence in November, with a qualification period running until January. Once this window has closed, the top 150 athletes in each gender and weight category per continental time zone will be invited to race virtually at the championships.


From the heats, the top 50 competitors in each category will advance to the semi-finals, with the best 20 moving on to compete in the grand finals.

Additionally, there will be a variety of new events, including relays for universities, schools, and services (Armed Forces, Police, Fore etc) along with 5000m events too.

Racing at the 2024 World Rowing Indoor Championships will follow this schedule:

Weekend 1: Saturday, 15th & Sunday, 16th February 2025

Events: 500m and Endurance Relay

Weekend 2: Saturday, 22nd & Sunday, 23rd February 2025

Events: 2000m and Sprint Relay

Saturday – Heats:

Asia & Oceania: 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM CET
Africa & Europe: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM CET
Americas: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM CET
